Pack Raft Course: Introduction to Pack Rafting

Course includes:
Four day course: Introduction to pack rafting and a review of equipment. Instruction covers basic paddle strokes on lakes and rivers, river reading, ferrying and basic river rescue techniques, river travel, stroke improvement, running rapids and safety. Course provides you with the necessary skills to maneuver through Class II/III rapids. Course is suitable for complete beginners. No prior experience necessary.

Dates
1st Course : May 13 -14 evening in town and 16-17 full days
2nd Course: June 17 -18 evenings in town and 20-21 full days
Schedule
Wednesday Evening: 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. – City Intake
Thursday Evening: 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. – City Intake
Saturday & Sunday: All Day – River to be determined, will include a hiking component

Upcoming Pack Raft Trip

Parton River: July 13th & 14th
Leave from Blanchard camp the Morning of the 13th and drive to Parton put in. The hike in is 7 hrs. Beautiful alpine scenery, and 2 kms over the Parton Glacier. We will camp by a little lake near the glacier.

Next day, the 14th, we will hike 1 hrs to the put in. The first ride is fast and wild but easy to walk around. Then river meander through the pristine Parton valley. The last 5 kms are fast, non stop grade II+, through a canyon until we meet the Highway. This is a real fun ride.
Bring your own food and boat or we can arrange it all for you.

Cost includes shuttle. Your guide will have spare paddle, First Aid Kit, repair kit, communication device. Packrafts can be rented if needed.

Cost: $350.00 CAD

McNeil River: August 10th-15th
Leave from Whitehorse on August 10th. It is an 8 hrs drive to Ketza Road mine. Start hiking to Tbob creek and camp. The Hike is approximately 10 kms, almost all downhill.

11th to 14th: Float down Tbob creek, a very small narrow creek until we meet the McNeil River. The McNeil is a fun gentle river, full of wildlife. The canyon is grade II. Fishing is excellent. We join the Nisutlin River and will encounter 10 kms of grade III good fun rapids.

15th August. We will hike/paddle up the Rose River to the South Canol Rd and drive back to Whitehorse; approximately 3 hrs.

Packrafts can be rented.
